Free North Carolina CDL Practice Tests
Getting your CDL in North Carolina starts with the written knowledge tests at the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles. How the North Carolina CDL process works
- Study the official North Carolina CDL manual from the NCDMV — state exams draw from it.
- Pass the written knowledge tests to earn your Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP). You can take the CLP knowledge tests before completing ELDT.
- Complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) from a provider on the federal Training Provider Registry — required before your skills (driving) test. Truckcess provides the theory portion. (Exception: for the HazMat endorsement, ELDT theory is required before its knowledge test.)
- Pass the three-part skills test — vehicle inspection, basic control, and road driving.
The full prep course — every practice test, narrated lessons, the spoken pre-trip trainer — is one-time (Class A $69, Class B $59) with 12 months of access: mytruckcess.com/cdl.
